Remediation of private lot on Route 207 that contains ACM

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to inform the community that a private lot located on Route 207 (the mounds fenced in across from McSmokes) is being cleared of soils containing Asbestos Containing Material this morning. 

The work is being done by Sanexan, the same company that has been remediating in Lot 106. A local excavator is working with the company and the material is being transported off the Territory. 

All safety precautions are being taken, including watering down of piles to prevent dust.
 
�As the community is aware this situation is very complex, and we are committed to remediating the situation. I apologize for the delay in advising the community ahead of time of this work and for not anticipating traffic on the 207 but this is being corrected for the coming days,� said Rats�nhaienhs Cody Diabo. 

The work is expected to be completed by the end of this week, weather permitting. Any questions or comments can be brought to the Asbestos Working Group via 450-632-7500.
