09/15/2021

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke wishes to congratulate Kawennhere Devery Jacobs on her upcoming appearance on the prestigious Emmy Awards program this weekend. Her appearance as a presenter (either handing out trophies or making introductions) was announced by CBS and the Emmys organization on Monday. Her selection was in the first wave of 34 celebrities chosen to be presenters at the event, which traditionally has been viewed by millions around the world.

This is pretty incredible, said Ohn:ton :iente ne Ratitsnhaienhs (Grand Chief) Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer. Kawennheres career has taken her to places most of us cant even fathom. She continues to be the source of great pride not only for her family and friends, but all of Kahnaw:ke. On behalf of the community Id like to congratulate her on this special honor. Well all be cheering you on, girl!

Kawennhere has won awards both as an actor and as a filmmaker. Her current projects are the Rutherford Falls, Reservation Dogs and the upcoming Bootlegger. She is among the group of young Kahnaw:ke women actors and filmmakers who have made an impact on the national and international scene in the past several years, including Kanieht:io Horn, Tracey Deer, Brittany LeBorgne, Heather White and Roxann Whitebean.
