Angus L Montour 2024 Electoral Officer

The Executive Office of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) wishes to announce that Angus L. Montour has been elected by acclamation to the position of Electoral Officer for the upcoming 2024 MCK Elections.

Mr. Montour was deemed an eligible candidate for Electoral Officer by the Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission after completing a verification and screening process. As Mr. Montour was the only candidate deemed eligible, no election will be held to fill the position. For clarity, section 5.7 of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke Election Law states that �if after the verification and screening process is completed only one candidate is eligible, that candidate will be elected by acclamation to the position of Electoral Officer and no election (for the position) will be held.�

Mr. Montour has experience in the position, having served in both the most recent by-elections in 2022 and the election in 2021, as well as in 2018. He will immediately begin the process of conducting the election, including setting the dates for Nominations and Candidates Night. The date for the election has been set for Saturday, July 6, 2024.
