Land Use Planning

The Land Use Planning Project is conducting an extensive Community information and consultation campaign over the next 30 weeks to address major land-related issues in Kahnawà:ke.

Various meetings, focus groups, surveys, and workshops are set to take place between February and September of 2017 to go along with educational materials posted on this page. Land Use Planning Coordinator, Cole McComber is leading the campaign and will incorporate all feedback into a land use plan framework that is expected to lead to a land use plan for the next generation.

Lands Unit

Ohontsa’shón:’a Tkaiatakwe’niiò:keKahnawá:ke land is so important to Kahnawakehró:non and its land issues are complex. The Mohawk Council of Kahnawá:ke Lands Unit through its Directorate provides services in five main areas:

The Regulation Respecting Demolition Waste Recycling Operations in Kahnawà:ke are now available for review. Feedback can be submitted to Debbie Morris at (450) 638-8244 until July 20, 2016 at 4pm. Click here to view the regulations.

The Lands Unit provides services for:

  • Land Allotments
  • Land Transfers
  • Negotiating access roads for landlocked property.
