MCK offers condolences for former Council Chief

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) would like to offer its condolences to the friends and family of Doris Mayo White, who passed away this past weekend at her home in Kahnaw�:ke. She was 87 years old. Mrs. White was very much an influential member of the community. She was a community activist and long-time volunteer. She was elected to the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke in 1978, serving a two-year term as a Council Chief. She never shied away from speaking her mind on the issues and was politically active for many years. She was also a strong advocate for the Mohawk Language. �It seems that everyone in Kahnaw�:ke knew Doris,� said Grand Chief Michael Ahr�hrhon Delisle, Jr. �She was as selfless an individual as I�ve ever known. She will truly be missed.� She was predeceased by her husband Norman and is survived by her eight children, her brother Alec, nineteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. Visitation is at the Poissant & Deer Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:30pm on Tuesday, 9 Kentenhk�:wa/November.
