Flood warning in effect for homeowners

The Public Works Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke would like to remind the public that during the current weather conditions with heavy rain and large scale melting of snow, flooding is always a concern.

The Public Works department will have crews working around the clock and machinery in the field to clear clogs occurring in the sewer drains.

Homeowners are urged to keep a close watch for flooding in their basements and verify that they have a sump pump that is in proper working condition.

Today's conditions are an indication of what is still to come during the spring thaw. If you do not own a sump pump, one can be purchased at your local hardware store.
