MCK addressing Caisse Populaire Kahnawake investment income taxation issues

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to inform the community that it is aware of notices sent to community members/clients of the Caisse Populaire Kahnawake regarding taxation of investment income.

The issue was addressed at 21 Ohiar�:ha/June Council meeting. Due to the complexity of the matter, Chief & Council, along with its legal and tax team, are planning to meet with the management and board of directors of the Caisse Populaire in order to further assess this issue.

�While it is the responsibility of the Caisse to inform its clients about these matters, we have an obligation to closely monitor any and all developments regarding taxation,� said Grand Chief Michael Ahr�hron Delisle, Jr. �We plan to keep a clear line of communication open between ourselves and the Caisse.�
