Mercier Bridge: new traffic configuration schedule

06/28/2011

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform road users that the Ministère de Transport du Quebec (MTQ) has devised a new traffic configuration for the Mercier Bridge in order to address issues of access to Montreal and the south shore during off-peak hours.

As of Monday, June 27th the following traffic configuration schedule has been put in place:

•    Weekdays
o    5am to 9am - two lanes to Montreal-bound.
o    9:45am to 2:15pm - one lane each direction.
o    3pm to 7pm - two lanes to Kahnawà:ke-bound.
o    7:45pm to 4:15am - one lane each direction.

•    Weekends & Holidays
o     One lane each direction

Please note, during direction changes both available lanes will be completely closed for reconfiguration. Also, the ban on heavy vehicles is lifted and trucks will now be permitted to travel Kahnawà:ke-bound on the bridge.

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke will keep the community informed as developments occur. For updates visit www.kahnawake.com and while you are there subscribe to our Text Messaging Service for timely updates by filling out the online form.
