Second Reading for proposed amendments to Sanitary Conditions Law

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that the Second Reading of the proposed amendments to the Sanitary Conditions Law will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) 2 Seskehk�:wa/November from 6 to 8pm at the Moose Lodge.

Community members are invited and encouraged to attend. Please try to arrive a few minutes beforehand.

In accordance with the Community Decision Making Process, the proposed amendments have been following the process designated for �Type 2� laws (those that are regulatory in nature).

The original law was passed in 1968. These amendments have been put forth by the MCK Lands Unit in the interest of creating regulations to assist in protecting the environment.  A second opportunity for community feedback occurred during a 30-Day Review period that ended on 18 Sesk�ha/October.

The agenda will include the introduction and reading of the law; a review of the proposed amendments and overview of the operational components; and an opportunity for additional feedback. This will be followed by a discussion on the next steps.
