Education & Youth Needs focus of new video

The Kahnaw�:ke Casino Project Team is pleased to announce the release of the latest casino project information video presentation. This video focuses on Education funding, as well as various Youth Needs in the Community. The video is now online at www.kahnawakecasinoproject.com and will also be available for viewing on Paul�s Cable channel 4 (Mohawk TV).

It has been well documented that Kahnaw�:ke lacks sufficient funding for our local education system, as the Kahnawake Education Center has been consistently facing shortfalls in the area of $300,000 dollars over the past few years. Sports & Recreation activities are also severely underfunded, while post-secondary school graduates with degrees face a local job market with few opportunities in their chosen field.

Education and Sports & Recreation stand to be some of the biggest beneficiaries of casino profits. In this video we get comments from Council Chiefs, representatives from Sports & Recreation, as well as students from the Tewatohnhi�saktha Career Skills Building program on the realities of current budgets and job opportunities.

Anyone with questions regarding the casino project is invited to visit the Casino Project Information Center located at the former Environment Protection building on the Old Malone Highway.  Office hours are from 10am to 5:30pm Mondays through Fridays.
