CP Holiday Train visit an all-around success

11/28/2012

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that last evenings visit by CPs Holiday Train was a success in every way.

This is the eighth straight year that the train made a stop in Kahnaw:ke in what has become an annual tradition.

An estimated crowd of over 250 was in attendance. Volunteers from the MCK, Peacekeepers and Kahnawake Fire Brigade were on site to ensure the evenings events went smoothly.

Grand Chief Michael Ahrhron Delisle, Jr. accepted a cheque for $1,500 from CP on behalf of the Kahnaw:ke Christmas Basket Committee, which also was the beneficiary of an additional $614.16 collected on site. Two truckloads of non-perishable food items were collected for the Kahnaw:ke Food Bank. Several toys were also donated.

Organizers distributed 300 hot dogs and candy canes, 250 glow sticks and thirty gallons of hot chocolate.

Wed like to thank everyone who played a part in making the visit a success, especially CP, said Brandi Meloche, one of the organizers. The performances were fun, the train was amazing and there were lots and lots of smiling faces what more can you ask?

Over the past decade the Holiday Train has raised well over $5 million and two million pounds of food for local food banks.
