CP Tunnel repairs scheduled

The Community Protection Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke would like to inform motorists that the Canadian Pacific Tunnel on the Old Malone Highway will undergo essential repairs beginning on December 17, 2012 until January 11, 2013.

A complete closure of the tunnel is essential for the safety and health of all workers and community members. The original intent was to keep the tunnel open during nights and weekends but this could not be accomplished safely.
 
Mohawk Masonry has been contracted to perform repairs to the concrete walls inside the tunnel, which will include removal and replacement of loose concrete on both the north and south walls of the structure. To install the form-work, bracing will extend towards the center of the tunnel by at least four feet on each side restricting safe passage of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
