Chief Gina Deer attending economic development conference

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to inform the community that Chief Gina Deer will be in Winnipeg today (Friday) through Sunday to attend the �Creation of Wealth� conference being organized by the National Council of Indigenous Elders.

The purpose of the forum is to develop new strategies for positive change in the lives of Indigenous peoples. Wealth creating models will be examined and discussed. Those scheduled to speak include former AFN National Chiefs Ovide Mercredi and Phil Fontaine.

Agenda items include Resources; International Trade; Gaming; Indian Trust Funds, and Private Sector Procurement.

Chief Deer holds the Gaming and Economic Development portfolios among her responsibilities.
