Chiefs Kirby, Patton attending First Nations Education Council conference

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to inform the community that Education Portfolio Chiefs Rhonda Kirby and Bobby Patton will be attending the First Nations Education Council�s general assembly taking place today (Wednesday) and Thursday, 26 and 27 Ohiar�:ha/June in Val d�Or, Qu�bec.

The main agenda item to be discussed is Canada�s proposed First Nations Education Act. Many First Nations leaders, communities and organizations are upset at the Federal government�s lack of consultation on the controversial legislation.

The Chiefs will return to the office on Friday.
