Dreams taking flight tonight

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that five Kahnaw�:ke children will be visiting Walt Disney World courtesy of Air Canada�s �Dreams Take Flight� program.

The kids will leave for Orlando, Florida, aboard a special Air Canada flight during the wee hours and will arrive early tomorrow morning along with approximately 175 other children. As always, several MCK staff, including Chiefs Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer, Bobby Patton and Gina Deer have volunteered to accompany the kids to Trudeau Airport to send them off.

The MCK has been involved in Dreams Take Flight since 2004. Children are selected by Kahnawake Shakotiia�takehnhas Community services based on requirements and standards set by the Dreams Take Flight organization. Over the years, 34 children have benefitted from the program.

�Dreams Take Flight was created for kids who wouldn�t normally get a chance to take such a spectacular � and fun � trip,� said Ken Bourque. Mr. Bourque is an MCK employee and former Air Canada employee who was instrumental in getting the MCK involved. �Everything we do on this day is for the kids. We want them to feel special � and it�s been a great success in that regard over the years!�

Dreams Take Flight is organized by volunteer staff from Air Canada who takes physically, socially and mentally challenged children from across Canada to Disney World. The Montreal chapter has been in operation for nineteen years. There is no cost to the children or their families.

The group is expected to return late tomorrow evening.
