Weather warnings for this evening, Tuesday

The Emergency Preparedness Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to advise the community of weather warnings for potential heavy snowfall, high winds and freezing rain beginning this evening, Tuesday, November 26th, 2013.

A potential 15-30 centimetres of snow is expected to fall overnight and there is a possibility of that it turn to rain by tomorrow. Due to lower temperatures, the precipitation may also cause freezing rain.

During the storm, winds up to 90 kilometres per hour are expected.

Community members are urged not to venture outdoors during this time. Should the snow turn to rain, ensure that your sump pumps are in working order.

For more information on how to prepare for storms, please contact the Community Protection Unit at (450) 632-0635.
