Update re Gas Tax Class Action Settlement payments

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK)  has continued to receive requests for information regarding the payments from the Class Action Settlement on Fuel Tax Paid on Reserve announced in 2013.

Please note that this is NOT an MCK initiative. The MCK would like to remind those who applied for the settlement that Collectiva is the company responsible to administer the settlement.

The latest information, received from Collectiva today, is that the company expects that payments should be issued by late February or early March of this year. According to the company, all of the claims have been processed; however, appeals for any rejected claims are still being addressed, which is the reason for the delay.

The company had earlier announced that payments would be issued this month (January).
According to Collectiva over 40,000 claims were submitted; however, the MCK does not know what amount the cheques will be for or how many persons qualified for the settlement in Quebec.

The MCK is urging community members who have questions to contact Collectiva directly at 514-287-1000 or by visiting their website, www.collectiva.ca. The company updated their telephone messaging and website today to ensure the current information is accurate.
