Consensus reached on first four Sections of Kahnawake Justice System Law

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to announce that consensus was reached on the first four Sections of the Kahnaw�:ke Justice System Law at last night�s Community Consultation.

The proposed law is now in its Second Reading which, in the Community Decision Making Process, takes place once a second draft of a proposed law or amendment to a law is completed.

Last night�s meeting, which was attended by approximately ten community members, resulted in consensus on the sections on the Preamble; Generalities; Forums; and Court of Kahnaw�:ke Hearings. No changes were proposed for any of the sections.

The next Community Consultation on this topic will take place from 6pm to 8:30pm on 4, Enn�ska/February 2014 at the Golden Age Club. The meeting will begin at Section 5 (�Court of Kahnaw�:ke Judgments�).
