Chief Lloyd Phillips in Qu�bec City to attend AFNQL special assembly

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Chief Lloyd Phillips is in Qu�bec City today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday) to attend the special Assembly of First Nations of Quebec & Labrador (AFNQL) �Special Chiefs Assembly.�

�The sole topic on the agenda is the relationship between First Nations and Quebec,� said Chief Phillips, who attends AFNQL meetings on behalf of the MCK. �It will be a good opportunity for me to assess Kahnaw�:ke�s relationship with the province, and to discuss various concerns and ideas with the chiefs.�

The Chiefs will meet with Minister of Native Affairs Geoffrey Kelley this afternoon in preparation for a meeting between the AFNQL and Premier Phillipe Couillard, planned for late April.

Chief Phillips will return to the office on Monday, 30 Ennisk�:wa/March.
