Language revitalization on agenda for visit by Heritage Canada officials

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that Heritage Canada�s Assistant Deputy Minister Hubert Lussier and Director General William Fizet will be visiting the community tomorrow (Friday, 17 Oneraht�kha/April) to become better informed about Kahnaw�:ke�s language revitalization initiatives.
Heritage Canada�s Glen Karonhiio Cross-Morrison, who has family from Kahnaw�:ke, will also participate. He played a major role in organizing the visit.
�We welcome any officials who have a sincere interest in these efforts and may, at some point, be able to provide assistance in this important matter,� said Language Portfolio Chief Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer. �The effort to bring Kanien�k�ha back to its rightful place in the community is � and has been � a massive undertaking, and any and all support would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully this visit may open some doors for us.�
The agenda includes visits to Karonhian�nhnha School, the Kanien�keh�:ka Onkwaw�n:na Raotiti�hkwa Culture and Language Center, Karihwanoron Immersion School and the MCK�s Language and Culture Training Program.
