MCK announces launch of new Residency webpage

08/11/2015

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce the launch of a new page on its kahnawake.com website dealing specifically with Kahnaw:ke Residency issues.

The Page was launched as a conduit for all matters in reference to the issues of Residency and Membership in Kahnaw:ke and is designed to be an important component in educating community members, and the public in general, on this major issue.

The Page includes an outline of the Action Plan put forth by Council, as well as a series of ′Residency Snapshot′ videos explaining why Kahnaw:ke finds itself in the unique situation it is in today. A new snapshot video will uploaded each week.

Also included on the page are links to all laws, historical documents, past surveys, press releases and 29 other videos related to the issue.

This new webpage is part of a broader plan to engage the community in finding peaceful solutions to this very complex issue, said Membership Portfolio Chief Kahsennenhawe Sky Deer. The best decisions are always made when we have the correct information at hand. Feelings and opinions may vary but the facts dont change. History is a great teacher and we shouldnt be afraid to learn from it.

The page can be viewed at www.kahnawake.com/residency .
