Kevin Fleischer new Director of Justice Services

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Kevin Fleischer will assume the position of Director of Justice Services on April 5, 2016.
 
Fleischer replaces Ron Skye who has moved on to become the Commissioner of Public Safety. Before moving to Justice Services full time last October, Fleischer was Legal Counsel with MCK Legal Services since 2007.
 
Fleischer will play a key role in the further development of the Kahnaw�:ke Justice System and the implementation of the Kahnaw�:ke Justice Act. He will oversee Court operations and the Sk�n:nen Aons�n:ton (Restorative Justice) program and chair the Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission.
 
�I congratulate Ma�tre Kevin Fleischer on officially taking on the full directorship of Justice Services," said MCK Executive Director Alana Goodleaf-Rice. �Kevin has been with the MCK�s legal department for many years and I have full confidence in his ability to bring Kahnaw�:ke�s justice system to the next level.�
 
�I look forward to continuing to work with the Justice Services team and Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission in further developing our justice system,� said Fleischer. �It is important that Kahnawa�kehr�:non have the opportunity to resolve disputes within the Territory in a justice system that is both accessible and integrates traditional Kanien�keh�:ka values.�
 
Fleischer holds a Bachelor of Civil Law degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree, along with a Certificate in Human Resources Management from McGill University and has been a member of the Barreau du Quebec since 2006.
