Meeting with Quebec Ministers deemed positive

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that Friday�s meeting with Quebec�s Minister of Finance Carlos Leit�o and Minister of Native Affairs Geoffrey Kelley has been deemed a success.

Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton, Iets�nhaienhs Gina Deer, MCK Chief Political Advisor Winona Polson-Lahache and project leader Lloyd Phillips attended the meeting held late Friday morning in Montreal.

�We�re very pleased at how productive the meeting went,� said Iets�nhaienhs Deer. �We addressed Bill 74 (the Quebec anti-Internet gaming legislation), taxation issues and the relationship between Kahnaw�:ke and Quebec. Minister Leit�o has made a commitment to meet with again in the very near future, so we are considering this a success.�
