Kahnawake takes part in National Victims and Survivors of Crime Week May 28 - June 3

May 28th to June 3rd is National Victims and Survivors of Crime Week, which aims to bring awareness to issues faced by these individuals, as well as to highlight the services available to assist the victims and their families. The Sken:nen A�Onsonton Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) program is inviting community members to participate in various events.

On Monday, May 29th representatives from ADR and Centre to assist Victims of Criminal Acts (CAVAC) will host an information kiosk at the Services Complex to provide an overview of the services available to individuals and families who may be victims of crime.

On Thursday, June 1st Crown Prosecutor for the Court of Kahnaw�:ke Phillip Legault will be at the Peacekeeper station from 10am until noon to give an overview of the legal steps for victims of crime, from pressing charges to appearing in court.

On Thursday, June 1st representatives from ADR and CAVAC will be guests on the K103 Partyline Talkshow from noon until 1pm to explain the services for victims of crime available from CAVAC, as well as the financial compensation available for victims of crime through IVAC (Indemnisation des Victimes d�Actes Criminels).

An information session with representatives from IVAC will be announced at a later time to provide more detail on financial compensation available for victims of crime.

These events are funded by the Victims Fund; a grants and contributions program administered by the Department of Justice Canada.
