Chiefs, Technicians to Attend Out-of-Town Session

The MCK has announced that Chief & Council and the staff of the Office of the Council of Chiefs will be out of the office this afternoon (Monday), Tuesday and Wednesday to take part in a strategy session.

The session, entitled �Strengthening Our Governance,� will take place at Mont Gabriel. It is being held as a response to a number of issues that have been raised regarding the roles, responsibilities, purpose, objectives and delivery of work being undertaken by the chiefs and their support staff.

Key issues to be discussed include 1) Applying our respective roles and responsibilities to the work, 2) Governance and organizational development, 3) Coordinating programs and services, 4) Developing greater relevance at the community level, 5) Developing strategies to meet the challenges being faced over the next five years. Other topics will also be discussed.

The session will be facilitated by the National Center for First Nations Governance.
