AFNQL hosts Elected Women Meeting, Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer attending

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that Iets�nhaienhs Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer will be attending an Elected Women�s Meeting being hosted by the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador from today until Thursday.

Agenda items include a discussion on Bill S-3 (an Act to amend the Indian Act in response to the Descheneaux decision); an update on the Cannabis issue; Gender Equality & Women�s Empowerment; and an update on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls. A meeting with Canada�s Minister of Indigenous Services, Jane Philpott, is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Approximately forty (40) women representatives from across Quebec and Labrador are attending the event, which is being held in Gatineau (Ottawa).
