Emergency Locations Map sneak peek tomorrow

12/10/2018

Kahnaw:ke′s First Responders, in conjunction with the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke, are pleased to inform the community that the new Emergency Location Map is near implementation for First Responders within the community.

Representatives from the Public Safety Unit, Kahnawake Fire Brigade, and the Kahnawake Peacekeepers will be at kiosks at the Kahnaw:ke Services Complex from 9am to 4pm on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, December 12th
  • Wednesday, December 19th
Kahnawakehr:non are invited to verify their location on the map and find out more information about the system.

Utilizing a map with street names and locations will drastically reduce the amount of time and confusion that normally takes place when a call is received, said Director of Public Safety Arnold Lazare. Arriving on the scene to an emergency just a few seconds earlier could mean saving a life in extreme situations.

The Emergency Location Map is intended only for emergency services. The project is targeting an official launch date in late January 2019.
