MCK pays tribute to the late Cecilia Curotte

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to offer condolences to the family, friends and former colleagues of Cecilia Curotte, who passed away at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center on the weekend at the age of 80.



Cecilia was the first Kahnaw�:ke-born registered nurse to work at the Kateri Memorial Hospital, where she spent her entire career. Of note, she was a founding member of the Aboriginal Nurses Association of Canada (now Canadian Indigenous Nurses Association) in 1975 and was among those recognized at the 40th anniversary celebration of the creation of the organization in 2015.

Funeral services will be held at the St. Francis Xavier Church at 2pm this afternoon.
