Recreation Bay Natural Zone Construction - Delayed

The Kahnaw�:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) wishes to inform the community that a project to construct two natural zones on Tekakwitha Island this fall has been delayed. The project was issued for tender and two contractors bid on the works. Unfortunately, neither of the contractors were able to meet the project requirements, and therefore a decision was made to postpone construction to 2020.

KEPO will reissue a revised tender package in early 2020 that will include all project elements for the Recreation Bay, including the dredging of portions of the bay, two natural zones, a community beach and other improvements. Construction is estimated to begin in summer, 2020.

KEPO expects that a tender call early in the new year will be more attractive to contractors who, at that time of year, will be planning their jobs for the upcoming construction season.
