Water and Sewer line extension Bells Point

05/21/2020

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke wishes to inform the community that centralized (town) water & sewer services is being extended for residents of Bells Point/War Eagle Road.

Approximately 25 to 30 homes will receive services, depending on elevations and distance to the mainline, said Ratsnhaienhs Lindsay Leborgne, who is the lead on the Infrastructure, Transport & Operations Portfolio. The engineers are working on this right now. Once the work to install the water & sewer pipes is completed the road will be paved, so the residents in the area should be pleased.

The approximate cost of the project is $1.3 million, and the duration of the works will be approximately 22 weeks, though the starting date has not yet been determined.

A 660-square foot portion of Lot 52-1 Block A was officially designated to construct a sewage lifting station at the Tuesday, May 19, 2020 duly-convened Council meeting. This Lot is located at the intersection of Barnes Road and Bells Point Road. Also, this project will extend services along Barnes Road so those homes can connect to the centralized system, if they wish to do so.

Id like to advise the community that we are following all of the Task Forces protocols for construction works relative to COVID-19, Ratsnhaienhs Leborgne concluded. The health and safety of our people remains the highest priority during this pandemic as it should always be.
