Significant Snowfall Expected

The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke is advising community members to monitor weather conditions, as a significant amount of snow is expected Tuesday and Wednesday.

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for our region, with between 10-20 centimeters of snow expected, along with strong winds, which can generate blowing snow and whiteout conditions on highways and open areas and drastically reduce visibility. Try to avoid non-essential travel, and continue to monitor the local weather forecast.

Additionally, with snow in the forecast, Kahnawa�kehr�:non who ride recreational vehicles are being asked to avoid the area in and around the Hydro Line 2 corridor. Crews are continuing to dismantle the transmission towers and remove soil. The area is not intended for public or recreational use and is not safe for vehicles such as ATVs or snowmobiles.
