Logs suitable for firewood available for community members

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that wood cleared from the North Wall as part of the Hydro Line 2 decommissioning project is being delivered to SLS Lot 7-1-2 for use by the community.

This Lot is located on the Seaway Road behind the old Kahnaw�:ke Survival School site. Logs are being delivered in eight (8) foot lengths and are suitable for use as firewood.

The wood is for individual personal use in Kahnaw�:ke and NOT for re-sale. Wood should NOT be transported to Tiower�:ton to avoid the spread of pests including the Emerald Ash Borer.

Community members are responsible for pickup and cutting into appropriate lengths. The MCK encourages community members to be safe when working with and transporting logs (use of safety equipment, secure loading) and to respect COVID-19 protocols.

The wood is available on a first come, first served basis. However, community members are encouraged to be mindful of the requirements of others and to take only what you need.
