Angus L. Montour appointed as Electoral Officer

The Executive Office of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to announce that Angus L. Montour has been elected by acclamation to the position of Electoral Officer for the upcoming 2021 MCK Elections.

As he was the only person to apply, Mr. Montour was unanimously accepted once due diligence was conducted by the Evaluation Committee. They determined that Mr. Montour met the necessary criteria included in the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke Election Law Regulation. For clarity, as per section 5.7 of the Law, �If after the verification and screening process is completed only one candidate is eligible, that candidate will be elected by acclamation to the position of Electoral Officer and no election (for the position) will be held.�

Mr. Montour has experience in the position, having served in both the most recent by-elections in 2019, the election in 2018, as well as in 2006. He will immediately begin the process on conducting the election, including setting the dates for Nominations and Candidates Night. The date for the election has been set for Saturday, July 3, 2021.
