Fire Ban lifted in Kahnaw�:ke, still in effect in Tiower�:ton

The Kahnaw�:ke Fire Brigade would like to advise the community that the current Fire Ban has been lifted in Kahnaw�:ke, as yesterday�s rain has lowered the risk of fire.

However, the Fire Ban remains in effect in Tiower�:ton, where it has not rained in several days.

An alert had been issued last Thursday, June 10th in both Kahnaw�:ke and Tiower�:ton.

Community members are reminded that safety measures should always be in place for campfires, barbecues and other types of burning. We should always be extra-careful in Tiower�:ton because of the nature of the Territory � which consists almost entirely of forest � and a lack of firefighting equipment on hand.
