KEPO reminds community to avoid sensitive areas on Tekakwitha Island

01/04/2022

The Kahnaw:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) would like to remind the community to please avoid disturbing the newly-constructed habitats on Tekakwitha Island and along the bike path.

These areas include the beach; the Turtle Nesting Ground; the Marsh & Linear Pond; and sections along the bike path that were newly planted and seeded in the fall. These areas are very sensitive to disturbance, and fencing has been installed to identify locations to be avoided.

Motorized vehicles, including ATVs and snowmobiles, can cause significant damage. Please respect the fencing that has been installed.

KEPO would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation throughout this project. An update on the progress of the work will be released in the coming weeks. For more information, please contact KEPO at 450-635-0600 or bayproject@mck.ca.
