Snowfall warning in effect

02/17/2022

The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke is advising community members to monitor weather conditions, as Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for our region.

Rain will change to snow later in the day, with a risk of freezing rain or ice pellets as temperatures will fall throughout the evening. Surfaces such as roads and sidewalks could become icy, slippery, and dangerous.

At least 15 centimeters (6 inches) of snow is expected, which could be heavy at times. Winds between 20 and 50 km/h may cause blowing snow, which could make driving hazardous.

Additionally, with todays warm temperatures and rain, Kahnawakehr:non are being advised to stay off the ice.

Please monitor local media for updated weather forecasts.
