MCK Engages in Compliance Review

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke announced that it has begun a financial compliance review in regard to the contract signed by the Mohawk Bridge Consortium for rehabilitation work on the Mercier Bridge.

This review is being conducted as part of the MCK�s duty to ensure that the workers on the Bridge are compensated as outlined in the Fair Wage Agreement signed between the contractors and the MCK.

Additionally, it will assist in Kahnaw�:ke�s ability to address certain other concerns.

�This serves to help us to defend our jurisdiction and address the issues raised by the union (7-11) in regard to the collective bargaining agreement and the Commission des Constructions du Quebec,� said Grand Chief Michael Ahr�hrhon Delisle, Jr. �This will enable us to continue the discussion with the outside agencies in terms of honoring our responsibilities.�

The review is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
