Second Candidate Withdraws

The Office of the Electoral Officer announced today that Joanne Sky has decided to withdraw from the 2009 Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke election. Her letter was received by Electoral Officer Lindsay LeBorgne on Saturday morning (27, Ohiar�:ha/June) before the Special Advance Poll was held. Those participating in the Poll were advised of this development.

She is the second candidate to announce his/her withdrawal from this year�s election. On 16, Ohiar�:ha/June, Dennis R. Leborgne decided to drop out of the election.

The election for Grand Chief and eleven Council Chiefs takes place this Saturday, 4 Ohiari�ko:wa/July from 9am to 6pm at the Kateri School.
