Judge Orders Delay, Myiow Withdraws

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that the proceedings on the Interim and interlocutory injunction filed by Mr. Keith Myiow is being withdrawn by agreement of the parties where it relates �to the ballot itself and all that is associated with the ballot� of the 2009 MCK elections.

The Notice of Motion filed in the Federal Court by Keith Myiow against Chief & Council (and others), originally scheduled to be heard on 27 Ohiari�k�:wa/July, has been delayed to 27 and 28, Sesk�ha/September. All parties and their counsel be available and present for a mediation to be held in Montreal on those dates.

�While we maintain our disappointment that this matter has been directed to the Federal Court, we are pleased that the Order for an interim interlocutory injunction filed by Mr. Myiow on July 16th has been withdrawn,� said Grand Chief Michael Ahr�hrhon Delisle, Jr. �However, the process is by no means complete and we will continue to defend Kahnaw�:ke�s jurisdiction.�
