Call for Nominations re: By-Election

After having accepted to conduct the by-election pursuant to the Court of Kahnaw�:ke decision, Electoral Officer Lindsay Leborgne is hereby making a Call for Nominations and announcing the dates for the various activities related to the special 2009 Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke By-Elections:

1. Wednesday, August 26, 2009: Nomination Day

2. Wednesday, September 9, 2009: Election Day

Nominations will take place from 10am to noon at the Social Development Unit offices located in the Kahnaw�:ke Services Complex (across from the bank).

As per the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke Election Law 8.4, �any 2 members of the Community who are qualified as Electors may nominate and second any person eligible to hold office, as a candidate fro the office of Council Chief.�

As outlined in the Court of Kahnaw�:ke decision, all Kahnawa�kehr�:non who meet Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke Election Law eligibility requirements will be permitted to run. Nominees must confirm their nomination by August 29th at noon.

Elections will take place from 9am to 6pm at a location to be determined
