09/04/2009

The Sports and Recreation Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke regrets to inform the community that the Kahnaw:ke Skateboard Park will be closed for seven (7) days due to recent acts including illegal use of substances and vandalism in the facility.

The Skateboard Park follows a strict zero-tolerance policy against violence, drugs and vandalism and will continue to close with each occurrence. "These facilities have been developed for youth" said Director of Sports and Recreation, Bryan Deer. "The youth should not have to worry about their facilities being vandalized or being used as a drug zone."

Offenders are urged to please respect these facilities created for youth. The Skateboard Park will re-open on (Friday) 11, Seskehk:wa / September 2009.
