Wolfs Den Road Rehabilitation

04/16/2010

The Capital Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke would like to inform all Kahnawakehr:non of the upcoming project to rehabilitate the infrastructure in the Wolfs Den Area. Preliminary work for this project began on Monday, April 12th and will continue until the end of October 2010, weather permitting.

This project will be done in to two sections (see map below): the first section will start at the intersection of Albany Laundromat road continuing south to the Cemetery road intersection. The second section will start at the Route 207 down ramp to the Cemetery road intersection. This project will include repairs to the existing water and sanitary sewer systems, and installation of a new surface drainage system. Upon completion of the previously mentioned works, the road will be resurfaced with new asphalt.

During construction alignment-pins will be installed (steel rods marked with orange ribbon) along the roadway. These pins do not indicate the edge of the new road. The new road edge is five feet from the pin, away from the property line. This means that during construction the roadway will appear wider than actually planned. At no point does the road infringe onto private property. All private properties that are affected by the work in this area (e.g. driveways, walkways, hedges and/or fences) will be repaired or replaced prior to the completion of the project.

Residents in the area may be inconvenienced with temporary loss of water, dust and noise from trucks and equipment, detours and temporary road closures. Residents will be notified at least one day prior to having the water turned off. Proper road signalization will be installed to warn of the construction limits. The community will also be notified when a road closure is scheduled.

Your patience and cooperation throughout this project is greatly appreciated. Please contact the Technical Services Office at 450-635-1016 if further information or special requests are needed.
