The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that limited Landfill Operations, solely for personal and immediate residential use, are set to begin. The application process for private land/homeowners that require landfill will begin on Monday, July 21, 2014. Important note: No large-scale commercial or future residential development projects are permitted at the present time.

All eligible applicants currently on the intake waiting list will be contacted to attend a short briefing on how to complete the application package. New applicants will need to make an appointment for a briefing. Completed packages must include proof of land ownership and a Canada Land Service Record (CLSR). Full details on how and where to obtain these documents will be provided at the briefing.

All requests for landfill must be made through the Interim Landfill Coordinator and all permits issued must be approved by the Landfill Authority, which is a separate body created and empowered to ensure accountability.

For further information and to make an appointment, please contact Interim Landfill Coordinator Theresa Delisle at 450-632-7500 ext. 2366. Her office is located at the Strategic Organizational Development office located above the Skawenní:io Library.
