The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that Ietsénhaienhs Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer will be attending the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador Special Chiefs’ Assembly taking place from today until Friday in Ottawa.
The agenda will feature meetings with several Federal leaders, including Justice Minister Judy Wilson-Raybould; Minister of Indigenous Affairs & Northern Development Carolyn Bennett; Minister of Indigenous Services Jane Philpott; Minister of Families, Children & Social Development Jean-Yves Duclos; and Minister of Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness Ralph Goodale.
Member of Parliament Roméo Saganash will be present on Thursday evening and Friday morning to discuss the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
Other Agenda items include a meeting of Elected Women; a summit on sexual assaults; and a denunciation of police conduct.
