The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Recreation Department is pleased to invite the Community to a special groundbreaking ceremony tomorrow (Tuesday, October 23, 2018) at 9am at the Kahnawà:ke Sports Complex field.

On Monday, October 8th, Chief and Council approved the construction of a new baseball field, tennis/volleyball court and two soccer fields, pending an official land allotment designation. That designation became official last week and Recreation Manager Mackenzie Whyte and Portfolio Chief Carl Horn selected Tuesday for the official groundbreaking ceremony. Both will be on hand to say a few words. Frank ‘Putzky’ Rice (President of Minor Soccer) and Terry Stacey (President of Minor Baseball) are also expected to be present.

Construction on the multi-purpose project will begin this week. The total cost is $422,000. Various funding sources are to be confirmed at a later time. However, Onkwata’karitáhtshera has committed to funding the tennis/volleyball court, which will introduce new healthy activities to the Community.
