The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that a Sacred Fire will be held in the field at the Mohawk Legion 219, starting on Monday, July 26th, at 6am until the Indian Day Schools event closing at 6pm on Tuesday, July 27th.

The Sacred Fire is to honor and respect all Indian Day School and Residential School survivors, the impact of intergenerational effects, and all the unmarked graves.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Bring a chair, stop by to say a few words, reflect on our past, give thanks to our workers and share in the experience.

The facilitators for the event will be Tom Dearhouse and Louise Mayo. For more information contact Ms. Mayo at 514-793-0662.

Due to Public Health restrictions, a maximum of fifty (50) people will be allowed to gather around the fire at one time. If partially vaccinated or not vaccinated, wearing a mask is recommended when 2-meter distance cannot be maintained.
