Alexis Shackleton new Director of Social Development

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that Alexis Shackleton is the successful candidate for the position of Director of the Social Development Unit (SDU) and begins her duties effective immediately.

Ms. Shackleton began her career at the MCK in 2000 working in Archives, was the Membership Registrar from 2004 to 2009 and has been the Interim Director of the Social Development Unit for the past year, following the departure of Michael O'Brien from the position.

�Alexis has already taken on a proactive approach in meeting the changing needs of Kahnawa�kehr�:non by having a strategic analysis performed for the Social Development Unit," said Tom Morris, MCK Associate Executive Director.

Ms Shackleton is looking forward to having the SDU provide the best service possible to the community as the entire Unit is currently undergoing an operational analysis and extensive strategic planning to that end. The SDU provides service to Kahnawa'kehr�:non in the areas of Housing, Membership, Mohawk Self Insurance and Social Assistance.
