Notice to community regarding land issue

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to inform the community that a land issue/disagreement between Mr. Billy Two Rivers and members of the Delormier family was brought to Chief & Council for resolution.

At the Council meeting of Monday, 7 Ennisk�:wa/March, it became apparent that the land being claimed by Mr. Two Rivers should remain �common� for the time being. The issue continues to be reviewed by the MCK�s Lands Unit. Because of this, Chief & Council thought it prudent to maintain the status quo.

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke generally does not comment on private land matters. However, this announcement is being issued due to the nature of Mr. Two Rivers claims, made in a public manner in the Eastern Door newspaper.
