Tiower�:ton Strategic Planning results now available

The Lands Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that the Tiower�:ton Committee has completed the Strategic Planning Process Report which is now available for community members.

Over the past year the Strategic Planning Process involved focus groups with individuals who hold an interest in the Territory, including Community Members, Peacekeepers, Conservation, Caretakers and Committee Members. A survey also took place to collect feedback for the development of a Three Year plan with a twenty (20) year vision for the Territory.

The report was approved by Chief and Council on November 10th, 2011 and addresses the following key issues:

o    Governance (Committee composition, policy amendments);
o    Territory Planning (road construction, building practices);
o    Commercial Ventures;
o    Small Business;
o    Enforcement; and
o    Hunting, Fishing & Gathering
