Local charged with first degree murder

The Kahnaw�:ke Peacekeepers are continuing an investigation into a homicide that took place in Kahnaw�:ke on Monday, March 19, 2012.
 
The suspect that was taken into custody, identified as Derek Beauvais (01/19/1981) has been charged with first degree murder. The victim�s name has not been released at this time. Both the victim and suspect are residents of Kahnaw�:ke.
 
The file continues to be under investigation with assistance from the Surete du Quebec Major Crimes Division.
